Bill Beaumont was a key figure for English rugby during his relatively short International career, which included 34 caps.
Bill was also captain of his country for 21 of those games. Bill was the skipper of the great side that won the Grand Slam in 1980, which was the first time this had been achived for 23 years. During the series England beat Wales at Twickenham, which was eventful not only for defeating Wales but being introduced to a certain Erica Rowe !!!, some may remember!!!
Bill has also appeared on TVs very popular Question of Sport series with Ian Botham. In 1982 Bill was rewarded for his services to rugby with an OBE.
