Frank McLintock was born back on 28 Dec 1939. Frank’s career began back in 1959 when he made his debut for Leicester City. He went on to appear in 2 FA Cup finals for Leicester in both 1961 and 1963. He also appeared in the 64 LC final and was again a loser, so from the 3 finals all with runner up medals.
He went on to Highbury for a nine year spell whereby again he reached 2 more LC finals, only to lose them too. However he later skippered The Gunners to an Inter Cities Fair Cup win in 1970 and of course the famous double in 1971. Also in 1971 he won The Footballers Writers Association Footballer of the Year award.
From Arsenal he moved across London for a 4 year spell at Loftus Road with QPR. Through his very distinguished career he amassed more than 700 games, including more than 400 for The Gunners and he also made 9 caps for Scotland. Frank was awarded an MBE in 1972.
