At the age of 18, Paul Boardman was offered a soccer scholarship in the USA and spent 4 years at the University of Maryland studying for a degree in Sports Science. While in America, Paul began performing stand-up at local student hangouts and was booked for many of the top comedy clubs in and around Washington DC. He quickly earned a reputation as a young up-and-coming comedian winning several comedy awards, including one of the East Coast student comedy competitions in Daytona, Florida.

On his return to England, he was one of Peter Shilton’s first managerial signings when he was asked to play professional football for Plymouth Argyle. He played there for three years until he was forced to retire due to injury. Paul then decided to follow in the footsteps of dad, Stan and turned back to comedy, writing and performing his own material.

His early television appearances included “Pot of Gold”, hosted by Des O\\’Connor, 2 series of “Talking Telephone Numbers” and “The Big Big Talent Show”, “Friday Night Live With the Hole in the Wall Gang” in Northern Ireland, 4 appearances on “Night Fever” on Channel 5 and “Pebble Mill”.

Paul is a refreshingly new comic on the circuit and is a regular performer for the Variety Club of Great Britain and the Celebrity Golf Tour. He performed at the Les Dawson Tribute Dinner, The Professional Snooker Players Annual Golf Tournament and has regularly supported Joe Longthorne on tour. Paul also landed a leading acting role in “The Beat Goes On…”, an eight part drama on Channel Four.

Paul has also performed internationally in Los Angeles at The Comedy Store and The Laugh Factory in Belgium, and in Dublin at the famous Jury’s Hotel and a tour of Bosnia where he entertained over 10,000 troops from various countries for the United Nations.

Recently he has turned to television presenting and hosted his own show on Granada satellite television, their own version of “It’ll Be Alright on the Night”. Currently Paul is a presenter on Sky Sports. Paul is equally at home on television, performing on the comedy circuit or appearing at corporate events and doing after dinner speaking and is proving popular at Sporting Dinners.
