Charlie Magri was born on 20th July 1956 in Tunisia. He grew up in Stepney, London.
Magri won Junior ABA titles in 1972 and 1973 rising through to the senior ranks in 1974.
Magri represented England in the Soviet Union at the European U21’s Championships where he won a silver medal.
Charlie was an East End fighter through and through, honing his speed and skills as a flyweight champ at numerous bouts.
By 1979 he was European champion and four years later in 1983 he landed the WBC Flyweight world belt, defeating Eleoncio Mercedes in Wembley.
