Peter Bonetti
Peter Bonetti is the former Chelsea, St. Louis Stars and Legendary England goalkeeper.Born in Putney, September 27, 1941 he was signed by Chelsea from the Reading youth team. He made 729 appearances for Chelsea between 1959 and 1979, a record at the time and in one season managed 21 clean sheets.
Known as "The Cat" during his playing days for his remarkable agility, Bonetti was a member of the 1966 World Cup-winning squad, though spent much of his international career as understudy to Gordon Banks.
Probably the most famous of his seven England caps came in the legendary World Cup quarter-final clash four years later in Mexico, when Alf Ramsey's men went down 3-2 in extra-time to Germany.
Bonetti made his professional debut against City as a teenager in 1960, going on to clock up over 700 league and cup appearances in 19 years at Stamford Bridge. He is generally regarded as the London club's greatest-ever keeper
Towards the end of his career he spent one season with the St.Louis Stars in the NASL.
