Graeme Swann

Graeme Swann was born on 24 March 1979 in Northampton. Graeme Swann is an off-spinner who can turn the ball prodigious distances and always backs himself whenever he takes the field.

A more than capable batsman, during the 1998 season in his first season for Northamptonshire, he made his mark with a maiden first-class century against Leicestershire in the County Championship.

He took 21 wickets at 25.61 and averaged 22 with the bat for England A on tour in South Africa and Zimbabwe. Graeme also has one full ODI cap, when he deputised for the injured Ashley Giles against South Africa at Bloemfontein in 2000 as England cruised to a nine-wicket win.

Graeme is a very aggressive and confident player and a superb fielder.
At the end of the 2004 season he decided to sign for Nottinghamshire and was also selected to attend the ECB National Academy later that winter.
He was then selected in the 14-man England A squad to tour the UAE and Sri Lanka in 2005.

Swann came into his own on the Sri Lankan leg of the tour when he spun the tourists to victory on the last day of the first four-day game against Sri Lanka A in Columbo with excellent figures of 5-79.
Named in the 25-man England Development Squad in May.

After his successes in 2004, he had a somewhat disappointing season in 2005, however still managed to take 30 first class wickets in Nottinghamshire's title winning County Championship campaign.

Graeme is a naturally "humourous" and "bubbly" character and is available for after dinner speaking at cricket clubs dinners, where he will share with you some of his very amusing anecdotes from a very interesting cricketing career playing with and against some great names from the game.
