John Barclay was born in 1954 in Bonn, West Germany, the son of a diplomat. A highly successful schoolboy cricketer at Eton, he first played for Sussex at the age of 16. - John Emburey
John Emburey was a right arm spin bowler and a slightly eccentric lower-order batsman with the style of a grafter. He was more notable as an economical performer than a "demon" spin bowler, but on his day could leave the best batsmen groping outside off-stump. One of his dangerous balls was his arm ball outswinger. Emburey was named Wisden Cricketer of the year in 1984. - Richard Blakey
Richard Blakey was born in Huddersfield on 15 Jan 1967. Graham Gooch was the most prolific run scorer top-class cricket has ever seen. After he retired in 1997, the statistician Robert Brooke calculated that he had scored 21,087 in one-day cricket at first-class level, which added to his 44,841 first-class runs, put him ahead of Jack Hobbs. It was an amazing achievement, especially for a man who gave the impression that he was constantly on the brink of walking out in disgust. His elegant, watchful batting style produced some substantial innings for a West Indian team very much in its formative years in the seventies. He was Wisdens's Cricketer of The Year for1973. - Allan Lamb
Allan Lamb signed from Western Province as an unknown by Northamptonshire as their overseas player in 1978, he was chugging along nicely when Ken Turner, their secretary, persuaded him that South Africa were years away from returning to Test cricket and that he should invoke his English-born parents to play for England. He never lost his accent nor his attitudes - but Lamb was to be a fixture of the England middle order for the next decade. Small, stocky, aggressive, he had a correct technique, power in his shots and a gift for needling the bowlers. Lamb captained England in three Tests and captained Northampton CC from 1989 to 1994. Henry Khaaba Olonga (born 3 July 1976 inLusaka,Zambia) was a cricket player for Zimbabwe. He made his international debut in a Test match against Pakistan at Harare in 1995, at age 18 years, 212 days, becoming the youngest player to represent Zimbabwe. He helped Zimbabwe to its first ever Test victory in that game. A right arm fast bowler, Olonga was the first black cricketer to play for Zimbabwe and is the second Zambian-born Test cricketer after Phil Edmonds of England. - Derek Randall

Ray Clemence, MBE was born on the 5th August 1948 in Skegness, England. Clemence made his debut for Scunthorpe United in 1966 and was spotted and signed by Liverpool manager Bill Shankly a year later. Born in Glasgow in 1939. Paddy Crerand began his career with Celtic and was regarded as a legend before the great Sir Matt Busby came along and signed him for Manchester United in 1963. He became a legend there also and played in the great United team of that era with players such as Best, Law, Stiles and Charlton. David Fairclough, or 'Super sub', renowned for his memorable scoring exploits after stepping off the bench. The flame-haired Liverpool-born raider joined the club during the Bill Shankly era but exploded onto the big stage during Bob Paisley's management reign.
