Lee Wilson
Lee Wilson was born on 31 July 1938 in the Black Country. His career in Show Business started in the mid-fifties as a Guitar Vocalist. In 1957, he was called up on Active Service and served two years with the Cheshire Regiment in the jungles of Malaya, during which he formed a band entertaining the troops.
A top TV presenter who was visiting a centre where he was working discovered Lee in 1976. One week later he appeared on “New Faces” and won!! In 1978, he was awarded “Comedian of the year”, his award being presented by Jasper Carrott. Soon after he was approached by Johnny Hamp to audition for the popular TV series “The Comedians” and was promptly signed up for a two-year contract.
As the Cabaret venues started to disappear, Lee turned his talents towards After Dinner Speaking. With his wide variety of interests including Salmon and Trout Fly Fishing, Boxing, Football and Golf – he is continuously sought after by many sporting fraternities to make after dinner speeches. In 1991 Lee was invited to join the Variety Club of Great Britain Golfing Society, and has in the following years helped to raise vast amounts of money for charity.
